Oculoplastic Surgery in Boston

Boston Eye Physicians and Surgeons is happy to meet the needs of patients seeking oculoplastic surgery in Boston and beyond. We offer a wide range of reconstructive and cosmetic procedures to restore a normal appearance to the eye area. Every surgery is performed with the utmost attention to detail using state-of-the-art techniques and technology.

Reconstructive Procedures

Ptosis Surgery

Ptosis is a sagging or drooping of the upper eyelid. It may be caused by age-related changes that stretch or weaken the levator muscle responsible for opening the eyelid. Other causes may be congenital or neurological. Not only is ptosis a potential concern due to appearance, but it can cause blocked vision, depending on the extent of the drooping.

Surgery for ptosis usually involves tightening the levator muscle to elevate the eyelid. Treatment is tailored to the individual needs of the patient.

Eyelid Lesions

Noticeable bumps or lesions along the upper or lower eyelids that interfere with vision or look abnormal can be surgically removed. Suspicious lesions are sent for biopsy to confirm or rule out the possibility of cancer.

Lacrimal Obstruction

Lacrimal obstruction is a blockage of the tear drainage system that can lead to excessive tearing, redness, swelling, discharge and other complications. It may be congenital or develop due to infection, injury or age-related changes. Treating lacrimal obstruction depends on the cause of the blockage; some cases involve surgically opening up the channels for tears to drain.

Orbital Disease

The orbit or eye socket is a bony cavity where the eyeball resides. It can develop infection or disease or become infected. Problems affecting the orbit can interfere with vision and cause pain and other symptoms. The treatment for orbital disease depends on the nature of the problem and the underlying cause.

Aesthetic Procedures

Some of the patients who visit Boston Eye Physicians and Surgeons want to turn back the clock on facial aging. With our wide range of aesthetic procedures, we can target common concerns like wrinkles or sagging skin surgically or non-surgically.

Upper/Lower Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, rejuvenates the eyelids. During the procedure, excess skin is removed, muscles are tightened and displaced fat is restored to its proper position to give the eyelids a more youthful, alert expression. The incisions are carefully placed in the natural creases of the eyelids for very discreet scars.

Brow Lift

Brow lift is designed to elevate a heavy or drooping brow and minimize wrinkles on the forehead. Through incisions made at the temples and along the hairline, the brow is subtly lifted and excess skin is trimmed.

Cheek Lift

Cheek lift rejuvenates the upper cheek and lower eyelid areas by tightening loose skin and elevating the fat pad in the cheek to provide greater fullness in the cheeks.

Revisional Surgery

Our team works with patients who are unhappy with the results of their previous facial plastic surgery or have developed complications since the initial procedure. Our goal is to produce results that align with the patient’s original objective and, if applicable, restore normal eyelid function.

Injectables

BOTOX in Boston

Botox and Xeomin are neurotoxins that temporarily relax facial muscles, causing the overlying wrinkle to soften. We use Botox and Xeomin to minimize forehead wrinkles, lines in between the eyebrows and crow’s feet.

Dermal fillers like Restylane, Radiesse and Juvederm add volume to fill in larger creases and folds and plump up areas of the face that need it. We commonly use fillers to plump up the lips, cheeks and temples, and to fill in creases around the nose, mouth and chin.
